Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year to you! I hope you all had a good 2017, and are looking forward to a bright 2018 ahead.

2017 was a big year for Waifu Watch, given that it was the year of the site’s inception – all of this wasn’t even here this time in 2017! We’ve come quite a long way since we started, and we hope to have gone even further come this time in 2019. To that end, I’d like to talk a little bit about the site as it is now, and where it’s going in the future.

Where we’ve been…

During 2017, most of Waifu Watch’s content has been focused on photoshoots and reviews for anime figures, with the odd post reviewing or previewing a game here and there. It’s been a lot of fun, and I’ve learned quite a bit about photography from producing these reviews already. It’s also caused a pretty big expansion of my figure collection – and the purchasing of a fancy Detolf shelf (which I would recommend, by the way, it’s a nice shelf).

I also dipped my toe into the water in terms of recording and editing videos – the Senran Kagura PBS gameplay preview post was a little while ago now, but it was a good experiment. There’s still a lot there I could learn!

…And where we’re going

Going ahead in 2018, I’ll be continuing to produce reviews and photoshoots for anime figures. While I can’t make any promises due to my other commitments, I’m going to try to quicken the pace up a bit, and produce more consistent content. With that goal in mind, I’m hoping to expand the range of products that I’ll be taking a look at (still focusing on anime, of course), which should give the site a bit more content variety as well. Figures are nice, but there’s more to the world of waifus, right? I’d also like to try to get a better grip on video production, and start posting more videos – it’s something I tried to do in 2017, but hiccups and snafus kept the idea from getting very far. Let’s do better in round 2!

I also plan to start producing some guides, tips and advice posts in the near future. I’m not really an expert on… anything that I do, really – but I’ve picked up a few things here and there, and disseminating that info here will hopefully help others out. I’ll be taking a crack at anything from cleaning up a mucky figure, to how you can take better photos of them, so please look forward to that.

As well as all that, I’ll be continuing to consider other topics and type of content that Waifu Watch could cover – there’s a lot we could look at, as long as it’s fun to write about! If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to see, the site does have a contact form, or you can reach out to the site @WaifuWatchBlog on Twitter. I’d love to hear from you!

Onward to 2018!

So, that’s really all I had to say – it’s New Years Day after all, and I’m sure a lot of you are busy celebrating (or recovering from your celebrations), so there’s no reason to be anything but brief here.

I’d like to personally thank everyone that has stopped in to read this post, and anyone who’s taken a look at our site and any of its posts, shared it with their friends, or supported Waifu Watch in any other way. It really means a lot to me, and I hope that, in return, I can continue to improve and expand the site over the next year and beyond.

Let’s make 2018 a year to remember!
