Pre-order Information
Pre-orders are open for Pulchra’s new Bastet figure. Based on an illustration by Houtengeki (seen below), the figure is 1/6 scale and stands about 19cm tall.
Bastet is scheduled to release in April, 2019, at a ¥17,000 RRP (tax excluded). You can pre-order her from various retailers, including AmiAmi. Pre-orders are open until February 5th, 2019.
It should be noted that, as of writing, Pulchra has not yet decided whether the figure’s final material will be PMMA or PVC/ABS.
My Impressions
Once again, Houtengeki has brought us a tasty brown girl with an obvious Egyptian motif! Pulchra has done a good job realising her in figure form – her shapely body is sculpted wonderfully. Her lewd squatting pose does make the figure a little bit different from most figures – although it might make her a bit awkward to display.
Bastet should look great alongside Insight’s Anubis figure, since they share a lot of similar features. Bastet’s overall quality seems higher, though her price point is much higher as well. It does concern me that Pulchra hasn’t decided whether the figure will be PMMA or PVC/ABS yet, as this could impact the quality of the final release. Bear in mind that the photos seen here show the figure’s prototype!
Much like Anubis, this is a figure that I’d be interested in picking up at some point. Bastet is a very appealing figure, and Houtengeki is one of my favourite illustrators. Unfortunately, she does land in that busy front-end of 2019, which means I probably won’t be able to get her any time soon. Still, I think she’s worth taking a look at if you’re in the market for something a little exotic.
