Hello readers! This is just a quick update to explain some of the goings-on behind the scenes here, particularly regarding user accounts.

Recently, we made the decision to combat spam accounts, which have been something of a nuisance on the site for a while now. This is a two step process. First, we’ve implemented a reCAPTCHA test for new user registrations. While we know that nobody’s the biggest fan of reCAPTCHA, it’s so far proved effective, and you should only need to use it once.

The second step is a bit more important, and is the main reason for this update. Due to the extremely large volume of spam users in our database, it became apparent that there were too many to manually clean things up. Unfortunately, the most effective solution was to simply delete the whole thing and start over from scratch with better anti-spam systems in place.

As a result, all existing user accounts have been lost. If you were previously signed up to the site, you’ll need to register for a new account in order to log in. If you’ve been having trouble logging in, this’d be why!

We’re very sorry about the inconvenience, but hopefully this will lead to a healthier Waifu Watch for everyone. In the meantime, thanks for reading and following the site. We’ll be back with more news and reviews for you soon!
