Hibernian Workship has released a new update for Astral Ascent, their challenging pixel platformer rogue-lite. The Coral Archipelago update includes a new world, a new playable character and much more.

First up is the new character, Octave, who comes with new gameplay mechanics and 11 unique spells. This young fighter summons ethereal guns to attack his foes, opening up new ways to fight and explore.

Alongside Octave comes a new world to explore, populated by two new Zodiac bosses, two new challenges and eight new enemies. The update also includes gameplay improvements, such as reworked synergy systems, revamped Zodiac summons and two additional summons. There’s also several new rooms to discover, including Sun and Moon rooms. Each room offers new mechanics and challenges to discover.

Hibernian Workshop has also announced their roadmap for further updates. These plans include a fully reworked and optimised engine that should improve load times and frame rates arriving by the end of the year.

Astral Ascent is available on Steam Early Access for £15.99/$19.99, with a 20% temporary discount this week and a console launch planned for the future.
