Pre-orders are available now for a new Erza Scarlet figure by Orca Toys. It’s a 1/6 scale figure that stands about 315mm when measured to the tip of the spear and around 200mm when measured to the top of her head. The figure is made from PVC.
My thoughts: This is definitely an impressive looking figure! The pose is dynamic and appealing, and while her outfit is somewhat ridiculous for a “Knight Version” (I don’t know much about Fairy Tail, but do their knights really wear their knickers into battle?) it doesn’t seem to be too gratuitous. The sculpt and paintwork look excellent as well. However, you’re obviously paying quite a sum for that quality.
I am a bit wary of the size of it, as well – this figure will make a great centrepiece, but you might not be able to put much else around it. The warning on AmiAmi about the material being brittle and likely to break in transit is concerning, too. The implication that they don’t intend to help you if it breaks is especially unfortunate.
Overall, I love the way the figure looks, but it’s certainly one I’d consider carefully before buying. Spending probably close to £200 (once you include shipping and customs fees) for a figure that might break in the post is not an idea that I relish – but then again, the warning may turn out to be a load of guff. It’d be hard to say for sure until she releases.[tabby title=”Gallery” icon=”camera”]
