Pre-order Information
Kotobukiya is set to re-release their Sakuya – Mode: Seraphim figure from Shining Ark. Sakuya is a 1/6 scale figure and stands roughly 35cm tall. The figure previously released in 2015.
You can pre-order Sakuya from various retailers, including AmiAmi and Nippon Yasan. She’s scheduled to release in April, 2019 at a ¥16,800 RRP (tax excluded).
My Impressions
Now here’s a pretty figure. If you’re looking for something tasteful for your collection, you generally can’t go wrong with a figure based on Tony Taka’s work. The sculpt looks high quality, and the subdued paintwork gives the figure a pleasant feel. The figure’s large size and wingspan might be restrictive, but no doubt she’d make a fine centrepiece.
Kotobukiya’s work is well known, and their quality is quite consistent, so I can’t see there being problems here. Since this is a rerelease, you have the benefit of being able to check how the previous release turned out as well.
This is yet another figure releasing in the first half of 2019, but it’s one to keep an eye on. Aftermarket prices for the previous release were quite high (¥30,000 and higher), leading to demand for a rerelease. If you’d been waiting for a chance to buy this one, this is your best opportunity to do so.
